Following weeks of rain a day out seemed like a good idea. So it was off to the National Trust property at Basildon Park near Reading. Beware though it is costly (£11 per person) if you’re not a member. It has lovely big gardens with open walks through fields and woods. Just right if you have children.
The house itself has plenty to see and takes about an hour to tour. It is possible to attend a guided tour the hour before the house opens to general visitors.
So where will it be next?
